There are four major components of K2 Blackpearl:

1. SmartObjects:

3. Form
4. Workflow

K2 Blackpearl development tools

There are five major development tools in K2 Blackpearl which a developer should know:

1. K2 Designer: It is used to design Views, Forms and Smart objects.
2. K2 Designer for Visual Studio: If you are comfortable with Visual studio you could use visual studio to design forms.
3. K2 Workspace : It is a browser based Interface which provides interface to manage worklist, permissions, workflow instances, reports and management console.
4. SQL server: K2 Blackpearl does not have its own storage. SQL server is a preferred way of storage for K2 Blackpearl. It also helps K2 to manage permissions as well.
5. SmartObject Service Tester : This is an exe file used to create connection with sql server and other connections. It is situated at C:\Program Files (x86)\K2 blackpearl\Bin folder.
